If your booking includes children, I will bring minnows for them to use.
Otherwise we will be jig fishing unless you specifically request minnows.
And if you bring a young angler with you, I request that you furnish a child-size Coast Guard approved life vest and I will insist that they wear it at all times while in the boat.
Also I would request that you assure that proper boat discipline be maintained at all times while the youngster is aboard.
As for what else to bring; if you have "crappie" fishing tackle, be sure to bring it, but please be assured that I will have tackle enough for all aboard.
If you bring your own, my suggestion is rods in 9', 8', 7', 6 ½', and 5 ½' lengths, and your reels should be open face with 6 or 8 pound test of "new" line (there is nothing more frustrating to anyone than to loose a really big crappie because you were using old line).
If you bring jigs, make sure that they are 1/16 oz and 1/8 oz size.
As to color of the jig body.....bring what you have confidence in.
People ask me all the time, "what is the best color for crappie?".
I always tell them, "whatever color you have total confidence in".
If you like the color that you're fishing, you'll fish it correctly....and 'presentation is everything'.
Things that you should bring are hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, drinks, food, rain gear/jacket (as required), ice chest (to take fish home), camera and a strong desire to catch fish and have a good time.
Things that you shouldn't bring are alcohol and a strong desire to fall out of my boat.
